About Me

Brandon Lemke has dipped his toes into many different facets of music, from classical performance to front-of-house mixing for rock bands. Though he’s only been performing orchestral music for 2 years, he has performed in numerous competitions, getting to the finals in the Oakland University concerto competition, the UofM Ann Arbor solo performance competition, 15th place in the national percussion ensemble competition at PASIC, as well as first place at NABBA in the national brass band competition. He has also performed at prestigious places such as Detroit Orchestra Hall with various DSO youth ensembles as a ringer, as well as Meadow Brook Manor a wedding marimbist. Recently, he’s been getting more into composition, having done arrangements for percussion ensemble, larger-scale works for wind bands, as well as scoring and sound design for TV and animations. Brandon also dabbles in live sound, running sound all around the state on many different soundboards.

My rescore of the Wing It! animation from CueTube

Composed by pulling inspiration from various cartoons, such as Tom and Jerry and Looney Tunes. The music was composed entirely in MuseScore, with all sounds coming from the MuseScore sound library.

This was composed as a project for one of my Music Technology classes, but quickly became my favorite project I’ve ever gotten the privilege to work on. This was my first time writing for a full orchestra, and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out!

My first piece for percussion ensemble, “A Day in My Shoes”

This piece was composed as a midterm project in one of my creative composition classes. The piece, primarily the B section, pulls a lot of inspiration from Stardew Valley’s soundtrack. I’ve always loved the laid-back and playful vibe of the soundtrack, and wanted to try and emulate it in this piece.

While it’s not a technically demanding piece, it’s always held a special place in my heart as the first full piece of music I’ve written. As the title implies, it takes you through a day in my shoes. The A section is just me waking up, with the glockenspiel representing my alarm clock. The B section is me going about my day, talking to different people, with the piece ultimately ending with me going back to sleep.

Yes, I know I need to go back through and fix some of the wacky notation shown in the video. It’s on the to-do list…

Coming Soon…….. “Through the Ages”

Through the Ages is my first foray into full-length concert music for large bands. The piece is approximately 13:35, and was written for Wind Symphony. The idea for this piece stems from taking music history classes, and the odd thought of combining different styles across history into one piece, somewhat like a timeline. More info soon….
